Puppies, Rain, and whatever

I's 3:30 in the morning and I can't sleep. Ty and I are moveing in to a 2 bedroom, so I'm sleeping on a not so comfy leather couch. It's raining outside....The thunder is boombing. Yesterday I went with Taber to College Station to see his buddy Rance, and, to pick up an adorable border collie puppy for Taber's roomate. The puppy doesn't have a name as of yet. It got a little car sick on the ride home, so the whole time it kept it's face nuzzled on my sholder or are.....the result of which is....I so want a puppy.I'm really excited about moveing...It's been a while since I have had my "own" space....although I hate packing at this point..I packed about 5 times last year. It's hard to believe that this time last year I was volunteering at Lawndale, and Interning at HCP in Houston. It's even more amazing that I ended up here in Austin...and dateing Mr. White. I've known him for about 5 years.Despite being crazy aout him for forever...I was pretty sure this was on my list of impossabilities...I remember visiting him and Rance the first time I came to Austin.I thought this place was amazing....but..I think it would have been a little rough if I had moved here then...for reasons....and I had my silly heart set on Marfa...Lucky me I know absolutly nothing about life. I"m happier then I have been ever...
I love the rain

Changes

So I haven't updated things in a while. After my internship at HCP, I moved to Marfa. I worked at Galleri Urbane....and got exactly what I wanted.....only to realize it wasn't what I wanted at all.

So Now I'm in Austin. I've been doing fashion shows like mad. I just sent pieces off to a show in London with Dilema Agency. I've done 5 fashion shows here in Austin in collaboration with amazing people like Malissa Long, Rachelle Briton, Amanda Fey, and Brianna Fleet. I had no idea how easy it is to work here..if you want to work.

By day I work at Gordon Jewelers as a jewelry consultant. I love it actually, it's my favorite job so far I think. It's all jewelry all the time.

Also, my friend Dottie and I are collaborating on a website....until I"m ready to do one on my own agian...I really do think she and I could conqure the world...through dangers untold.

My life here is pretty amazing. I have a very wonderful boyfriend, Taber. I respect more than pretty much any person I have ever met. Also, I live with my friend Tylene...we have some pretty good adventures...and my Fairy-God-Friend from highschool lives just down the street.

2 Little Days

Two little days until my fashion show. Everything has come together very nicely. I'm actually not horridly nervous about it, Bu I have to get the Box painted tonight. I won't be able to work at all tomarrow because....SPIN5 at HCP is tomarrow. I go to work early and come back late. It will really be fun though..after the fashion show I"m off to Midland to take care of buisness...and then..poof Marfa for the weekend for the Marfa Lights Festival. I have been working atHarper's, a boutique in Old Town Spring, for extra cash in hopes of makeing it to France. That all happened because I got a nail in the tire of my bike, on my way to talk to Ramona about selling jewelry there. I also almost have all the paintings finished for Bradely Valentine's The Eyes of Olivia X. I"m trying to be calm, but I have to admit my head is spinning a little..no pun intended really. Oh yeah, I'm not funny.

Not the Brightest Crayon

So, today was my little cousin's birthday, and my second day interning at HCP.My aunt took off work to take Connor to the G.I. Joe Movie, so she dropped me off at the bus station to go into town to get to HCP. Easy right? Follow the yellow brickroad. Getting there was a snap. I had two hours to kill before I went in (still 15 minutes early), so I went to the Menil, the Twombly space ( I love the atmosohere in there) and, the Flavin instillation. The Flavin lights were so beautiful, they reflected poolsof rainbows on the floor.
So, at work (that I was still stupidly early for) Jason showed me how to resize images..The man must have the patience of Job! I got to see some very pretty things though. Also, Rachel gave me a brief orientation about a few programs as well...and the names of the galleries, which I find cute..Gallery X and Gallery Y especially. HCP is wonderful.
However, I totally screwed up the rest of my day.... and my aunt's...and my cousin's.
I was late getting to the bus downtown...so..I had to wait an extra 45 minutes...and then...brilliant me didn't bring my aunt's phone # with me. So, when I arrived at the station in Spring...I had no idea of contacting her...so, I decided to walk...a very long way...on I-45...which is just not safe...but did I think of this? NO! I made her worry something awful, so she hopped in the truck and went looking for me.....all of this could have been avoided If I would be more responsable and carry a cell phone. My Aunt sees the worst in people every day at her work (she works for a prison) I can't even imagine how she felt when I was 2 hours late.......I really need to use my head

First Day as an Intern at HCP

Yesterday was a crazy amazing day. I was late for my volunteer work at Lawndale, I'm never late, but I was Tuesday. When I got there I had the pleasure of helping Zachary with a tour of children most of which were about five. I got to help Adela install her show by putting together LED lights. It was amazing, while I was helping her she started talking about her work a bit. She's only been useing lights for about a year...but she smiled and said..people like light....It was cute.As I was about to leave, Zachary showed me a poster they had gotten from Chinati...the invitation for this years Open House.Everyone in the office wished me luck as I was about to leve for HCP...As Zachary was helping me get my bike out, he asked if I wanted the Chinati invitation...It was so nice!..... I then hopped on my silly bike and proceeded to leave........But as I was riding away, Dennis called after me...."Your bike is flat!" so I rode my flat bike to HCP...thinking I was horridly late, and of course I was 20 minutes early. Only me. Jason gave me a great overview of things..and...randomly had a pump to fix my tires! When I took my 30 minute break, I went to the park across from the Menil. I heard strange music comming from a tree no less....A guy was sitting up there playing Some Where Over the Rainbow....It was surreal....I got to spend the last hour or so unframming pieces in metal sectional frames....I loved my life yesterday

Catching up

Once upon a time there was a very silly little girl that fell madly in to art....Last year was the first year she stopped being a frightend child and decided to show her pieces. It was all pretty fantastical. shows in NY and DC, a Fashion show collaboration in Atlanta with Si' Asia Davenport, and had Nick Terry review her work. However, last October she was very scared it was going to be her last year volunteering for Open House at the Chinati Foundation (Silly thing volunteered 5 years at Chinati Open House always to be the gaurdian of the Kabakov space). Nick Terry was resigining...and...it just felt like an ending....funny thing about endings as you can guess, not to be. Instead, this nerd of a girl was offered an internship at Chinati. She started February 2nd and ended May 2nd or so. As was bound to happen, she fell madly in love with the strange town of Marfa (she will always refer to Marfa as Somewhere over the Rainbow). She had planned on staying in Marfa and creating a small life for herself there...but life has it's own plans. Instead of staying, she was accepted to a residency in Vallauris, France. Her mission should she choose to accept it is 14 40x40 paintings in 5 weeks. Her show in Vallauris is October 17th...She get's on a plane September 15th as a girl who forgets to turn the oven on..hopefully she has as much luck as Sabrina but this is another story and shall be told another time...(like when she actually get's on the plane). Anyway, because she got accepted her very amazing aunt who lives in Huston (at a prision no less) invited her to live with her for a while. The silly creature was very sad at leaveing Marfa, and left part of her self there to come back to one day...But, here she is in Huston. Deciding not to waste her time in the city, she has been doing lots of volunteer work for Lawndale and HCP, also she has undertaken the crazy task of putting together a fashion show for August 29th. As of yesterday she will officially be an intern for HCP (she's stupidly happy about this actually). Life is such a strange amazing thing. Donald Judd says every thing happens for a reason...and I believe him
